SATNA - Satna district at a height of 1000 ft, lies on Vindhyan Plateau. The southern portion of Nagod Tehsil is a cluster of low hills, some of them rise to more than 800 feet in height above the plateau. Satna is named after the river Satna that rises from Panna hills and flows east. There is another river joined Nagod district with Kathkone village and making the boundary of Nagod and raghuraj Nagar tehsils, till it meets the Tons river a few miles to the south east of Satna town. Satna district is surrounded by different hills. The Kaimurs, the Panna hills and the Vindhyachal ranges are some of the important ranges, Earlier Satna was known as Baghelkhand, which was under the rule of Rewa, some part of the west was ruled by feudatory chiefs holding their states under sanads given by the British rulers. There were eleven feudal chiefs such as Maihar, Nagod, Kothi, Jaso, Soha.
BANDHABGARH - Bandhavgarh National Park is spread at vindhya hills in Madhya Pradesh. A rare jewel as far as Tiger sightings are concerned, Bandhavgarh attracted lot of media attention for the number of Tigers one would see in each Safari. JABALPUR - Jabalpur is an ancient city of Madhya Pradesh. KANHA - Kanha National park is located in Banjar and Halon valleys in the Mandla / Balaghat districts of the state of Madhya Pradesh. Kanha National Park is one of the India’s finest tiger reserves. Kanha national park is more famous for its wildlife, the natural beauty of its landscape is just as fascinating. One of the best locations to enjoy that bounty is Bammi Dadar, also known as the sunset point.. Kanha also shelters one of the largest populations of the tigers in the country. Some of the other larger animal species found in the park are sloth bear, leopard, striped hyena, spotted dear, wild boar, jungle cat, jackal and a variety of monkeys. Over 200 spices of birds have been spotted in the park. There are many folklore about how it got kanha name. Some say it came from kanha, the clay like soil of the river bottoms, Other say the area is named for kanha a holy forest sage, who once lived here and was the father of shakuntala, whose son was Bharat and whose story was told in our legends.
